Congress decided to regulate the sending of email. Under the Can Spam Act of 2003 e-marketers can send you commercial messages without your prior consent as long as the e-marketer meets certain restrictions, including providing you with a valid way to opt out. However many remain sceptical and think Congress should ban the sending of commercial email without prior consent. What do you think?
I am satisfied with the present law as I understand the solution to the problem involves more than merely passing a law to ban the sending of unsolicited commercial email.
Even though I understand the solution to the problem involves more than just passing a law, Congress should go further and ban the sending of unsolicited commercial email.
I don't think it matters what law Congress passes. As long as there is a profit to be made from sending unsolicited commercial email, people will continue to do it. The ultimate solution to the problem involves changing the way email is sent and received.
